Apart from an early childcare facility Marsden City currently has no education facilities, there are however a number of excellent education nearby institutes. One Tree Point School is a Year 1- 6 school with approximately 250 students, situated on the shores of the Whangarei harbour, the school is well-resourced with excellent facilities. One Tree Point School attracts a high calibre of teachers and has a low attrition rate. The school boasts a hall, library, pool, modern learning environments and current Information Technology.

Nearby Ruakaka (just over 1klm ) is well resourced, the town centre has a Kindergarten for pre school children up to the ages of 5. Ruakaka school caters for year 1 to 6 and places an emphasis on providing a holistic programme in an environment that stimulates and challenges children both physically and academically.

Bream Bay College, years 7 to 13 is located next to the town centre and is the only intermediate and secondary school in the district. RECREATION

Whangarei harbour is a mecca for divers and fishermen. The inner harbour is a haven for Snapper, Kingfish, Tarakihi, Gurnard and in the permitted season Scallops, all within a short distance from the shoreline. Nearby One Tree Point is also home to Marsden Yacht and Boat Club, the club currently owns 5 Optimist Class sailing dinghies, 2 Lasers, 1 RS Feva and 1 Starling. Several white sand beach's make for safe swimming for both young and old.

Nearby Takahiwai boasts a strong league following with the Takahiwai Warriors League Club.The area has a number of clubs including Yoga, Swimming, Pilates, Martial Arts and many more. Further to the south and along the Coastline that boasts some of New Zealand's best swimming and surf beaches is the stunning 18 hole Waipu Golf Club.
